Wolverhampton-born VANES makes grunge-heavy rap rock sitting somewhere between Bob Vylan, Nirvana and Gorillaz. His debut EP "pixie dust" was featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday UK playlist and praised by Wonderland, who wrote: “VANES’ emotional vulnerability is refreshing to see and we can’t wait to see what he dreams up next.”
After a two year hiatus, VANES returns with “BIG MAN”, the first single from his upcoming six-track EP “AUTOMATED CULTURE.”, a project about greed, power and survival in a world increasingly shaped by algorithms, celebrity worship and political unrest.
Mentored by the late Judith Malina, co-founder of The Living Theatre NYC, VANES is developing “AUTOMATED CULTURE.” into more than a record: a visual, theatrical mosh-pit where grunge, rap, rock, protest and satire all crash into one another.
BIG MAN releases 19th June 2026, ahead of upcoming full band live shows with London Music Showcase in July.
